Google’s New SearchWiki a Haven for Spam
Google’s launch of its new service last Friday has immediately fallen victim to spam. SearchWiki, a tool which allows web users to personalise their Google search results by re-ordering, deleting or adding sites, includes a comment system which has opened the door for abuse.
A fairly hidden link at the bottom of the new search results page, “See all notes for this SearchWiki” is where the problem lies. This ‘wiki’ has meant anyone can leave a comment about any site they want, which of course has resulted in instant misuse.
When searching for TechCruch and choosing this link for example, the following comments are displayed:

Not sure if there is any SEO benefit for people posting and presumably promoting their own sites. Most comments seem to be the classic ‘great site’ style comments. Anyway this was news to me… but am very new to trying to apply some effective SEO to my websites. Jamie
